According to the Global Wellness Institute, the global wellness industry grew 10.6% from 2013 to 2015 from a $3.36 trillion dollar market to $3.72 trillion – making wellness one of the world’s fastest growing and most resilient markets.
With this growth, new products and services will inevitably emerge to meet growing demand and take advantage of the rise in public interest in wellness. With more people taking health into their own hands, there’s never been a better time to be a wellness entrepreneur.
Whether you are an expert in wellness tourism, complementary & alternative medicine, Ayurveda, yoga, nutrition, mind-body fitness, energy medicine, wellness spas, wellness real estate or other wellness niche, now is the perfect time to build your personal brand and establish yourself online as a wellness expert.
How can you set yourself apart as a wellness expert in your niche?
There are a host of ways you can build your personal brand and establish yourself online as an expert in wellness. In this post, however, I want to focus on the importance of one action you can take that is surprisingly often overlooked. And that is this: own your expertise.
Now, I know – I can imagine you’re thinking: “this is so obvious.” Yes? However, I am referring not only to your actual wellness experience, knowledge, skills and any specific wellness credentials you may have – but to ALL of your non-wellness related expertise that you also bring to the table as well. Often, it is the combination of expertise and experience that helps you to stand out from the crowd.
For example, if you are an Ayurveda practitioner who is also a trained medical doctor, lawyer, accountant or other licensed expert, consider setting yourself apart by sharing these other areas of your life.
Did you overcome a chronic health condition? Do you speak another language or did you have a meaningful travel experience that shifted the way you see the world? Do you have a side hobby as a master gardener, artist or dog whisperer? Are you a published author or involved in your local Toastmasters public speaking club? What awards, if any, or professional licenses do you hold?
What is your story?
In a market with so many offering similar services or products as you, it’s important to remember that you are one of kind and completely unique. By sharing your expertise and life experiences in all areas, both wellness and non-wellness combined, you can create a unique connection with your ideal customer. Most importantly, it is through your story that you can communicate to your ideal customer why they should trust you.
To build a thriving wellness business, you want your ideal customer to know, like and trust you. Owning your expertise – all of it – and sharing your story with others will help you to achieve just this.
To your skyrocketing business and impact,
